Dominican Republic Introduction
The Dominican Republic lies in the same waters as Cuba and Puerto Rico, taking up the eastern two-thirds of the island it shares with Haiti. Offering a lush interior with a mix of caves, Victorian gingerbread houses and the lore of pirates, plus 900 miles of coastline along its brim, island highlights include riding a cable car up Mount Isabel de Torres and basking on stunning Saona Island. Oh, and did we mention the D.R. is family-friendly, has just about perfect weather and is affordable?

“Great Choice for Familes with Small Children”
Caribbean Festival
My Husband, Daughter (who will be 3 next month) and I took this excursion while in Punta Cana. It was a WONDERFUL experience from beginning to end. The staff was just wonderful and they all catered to my daughter. Our first stop was Stingray Bay, where we did the stingray encounter, My daughter even got in the water with them... touched the top and bottom as well as the "stinger" - this made me nervous, but she wanted to and my husband encouraged it...also FYI they take the barbs out every three months, so you can't really be "stung". We then went to the other side of the enclosure to swim with the stingrays and sharks. We had a "guide" with us, who brought a floaty around, so we tooks turns staying with our daughter, while the other person snorkeled. We then got back on the boat, and they had music and dancing which was so awesome for my daughter. It really was a party atmosphere. We then went to the snorkeling sight, the reef was beautiful there was an abundance of fish to see. Again we had a "guide" with a "floaty" and he was really great. He even gave us fish food, to lure the fish closer to the surface so that our daughter could see them as well. This was such a nice touch, and she really enjoyed the experience. She is still talking about it. Once back on the boat, the party really started, much more music and dancing which you were encouraged to participate in. They even brought my daughter out to the dance floor with the crew several times. They made her feel so special and she really, really had a great time. I HIGHLY reccomend this excursion to familes with small children. I was hesitate to take her thinking she was maybe a little too young, but I am so glad we did. She still can't talk enough about the boat she went on and the dancing and the fish of course!
