“Great Value!!!” Comfort Suites Paradise IslandWe are a couple with two children, ages 10 and 6, that came with us for this trip. This is a economic hotel and you will have a wonderful experience if you keep this in mind: you are not getting the club level experience but getting a great value for the price. Any mom can tell you this is a great way to stretch your budget but still get all the thrills.
Bests thing about the hotel:
We had a king room with the sofa bed, felt spacious during the day and more than enough room at night. Loved the fridge, it made it easy to keep items cold before packing for lunch. The walk to Atlantis is less than a block; it took 3 minutes max. Use of Atlantis facilities: this was the best, as if you are staying at their hotel. Our room seemed just as big and clean as photos of Atlantis rooms, but we had a sofa and frig. At Atlantis you are paying for nice bedding.
Bad things about Atlantis: Price gouging. If you buy a soda in a can at Atlantis they charge you gratuity on top of an outrageous price. This pertains to almost anything you buy at Atlantis. A little crowded. Pools need upkeep and repairs. Nothing horrific but there are spots where the cement is coming off.
Budget Tips: Johnny Rockets has the same food, but only a dollar or two more than stateside costs. Save even more by taking it to go. Go to the liquor store for beer and rum where it is much cheaper. Bring a collapsing ice chest with you to take to the beach and pools. Fill a water bottle with rum to keep in the ice chest and order your drinks without alcohol (virgin). It made our drinks over $3 less a drink and then we poured in as much rum as we wanted.
Remember this is not the US. We live in Orange County, California so I would have been shocked at the scariness of Nassau, the not rude but not friendly attitude of hotel staff at Atlantis, etc had I not had a friend fill me in beforehand. Keeping these things in mind made me expect less and kept me in control of my vacation rather than letting any annoying incidents ruin a nice trip. |
