“Great Bargain”

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach

An all inclusive for under $90.00 per day on sale is a good deal.
The food is buffet food and and I don't need to go into that. There is plenty of it and it is O.K. The best part is their pastry chef who seems to have had cruise ship experience. The desserts are beautiful and a good variety with tons of fresh fruit daily.
There are 2 restaurants in addition to the buffet. The Viva Italian and the Chinese which I will describe first, "don't bother". The variety is poor at best, tasteless and small portions. The beef teriyaki & ribs were like shoe leather.
The Viva Italian restaurant was outstanding, a complete opposite.
We ate there 3 of the 7 nights. Great atmosphire, small room, quiet and the food variety and quality was outstanding but you need to make reservations early in the morning as they take few quests. Here at additional costs you can buy lobster and steaks but you really don't need to.
The best surprise of the whole complex was the friendliness and

helpfulness of the "whole" staff, everyone was wonderful.
The rooms are a little dated but overall very clean and maintained well and a renovation is currently going on in the western wing. There are garden and oceanview rooms. If you can afford to upgrade to the oceanview it is well worth the money and if there are lots of vaciencies you can dicker on the upgrade price at check-in. We upgraded to an oceanview for $100.00 for the 7 nights. The grounds are well landscaped and the gardenview rooms have a view but there is nothing like waking up to the sights and sounds of the early morning ocean which is right outside your balcony or patio. There is an abundance of beach chairs and sun cover and finding an all day spot is no problem. The beach is rocky and water shoes would be a good idea to take along. It's not the best beach on the island but it's O.K. There are 2 bars which serve drinks all day, one on the beach and the main bar inside. The beach bar also serves hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza & fries. Tipping is not required but due to the friendliness of the staff I found myself tipping out of appreciation. There is a constant row of taxis outside the main gate to take you anywhere. $22.00 per couple to or from the airport, $12.00 per couple to the shopping & casino area. The complex also has a convenience and pharmacy store for small needs as well as a small gift shop.
There is a comfortably heated large spa and a huge 3 to 5 foot deep swimming pool open until 8PM nightly. All types of activities can be purchased right on the resorts beach. Scuba diving, trips and tours, small sail boat rentals. There are also people offering "Resort Sales Seminars", but just say no.
For great relaxation at a good price I would recommend
Wyndham Fortuna, I will go back..
