Atlantis Dining Plans

Atlantis & The Cove Restaurants

A bit of advice before going to any hotel on the Atlantis property is buy the meal plan. Food is beyond expensive and not necessarily up to par with the cost of food. Although the meal plan does not include lunch, we really didn't find it necessary to have a large lunch because the buffet breakfast which offers seating until 11 a.m. has enough variety and is filling enough to last us through the rest of the day until dinner with a snack in between. When we arrived the first day we had lunch which included 2 hamburgers, 2 salmon sandwich, coke for three people and two margaritas...all of that for $175! Not kidding. Luckily we had the meal plan so all you have to pay for is the gratuity and any alcoholic drinks. Dinner the last day for four people which was 2 ham and cheese sandwiches, 3 salads, two steaks, no alcoholic beverages was $275 (with gratuity) and the restaurant was more of a Chili's style. You will not regret getting the meal plan. Gratuity is added to everything automatically. All meals, drinks, including the room which charges $40 gratuity every day. The meal plan more than pays for itself.

Review:

FOOD: In 2001 the three of us got the Gourmet meal plan and loved every bit of it even though we ate WAY more than we needed to; however with two more little kids this time, we opted not to spend $310 per day plus tips for the gourmet plan (I know the regular dining plan is cheaper but you can only go to 4 restaurants and that got crowded and bring and we remembered how great the other restaurants were and didn't want to be limited).....so, as I said, we had cinammon rolls/pop tarts, muffins from home each morning, shared nachos or hamburgers at lunch (big helpings) and dined fancy each night, making sure I didn't make my family miserable by watching every cent. The couple we met there did have the meal plan and had waaaaay too much food and never could finish it all and had to pay tips on 4 courses each night (you feel like you should order all courses since you have paid for it)...we ended up saving $1000 by NOT getting the gourmet plan, plus we ate at Senor Frogs while in town and didn't feel like we were wasting our meal plan at the resort. I'm sure I saved a few pounds, at least~ :)
